Meet some of our key people


Fred Kabi is an Associate Professor of animal nutrition at the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Makerere University. He is has been at the centre of AGcelerate from our inception through his revolutionary blended learning approaches to teaching.

Dr. Anne Roulin is the President at the Agripreneurship Alliance, Switzerland. She is the Curator of AGcelerate Lab and brings on board over 25 years of experience in global agrifood systems. She previously worked for Nestle

Rushongoka is the Managing Fellow at the Open Impact Institute based in Kampala, Uganda. The Institute coordinates the activities and programs of AGcelerate in the global south.

Dr. Namatovu teaches entrepreneurship at the Makerere University Business School and is the coordinator of the AGcelerate's mobility exchange programs for teachers and students between global north and global south.

Samuel's impressive work at the Uganda based Rural Community in Development (RUCID) has inspired us from the very start. RUCID is steadily becoming our Centre for Research in Indigenous Knowledge and Agroecology

Kostas is a professor of economics and management at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and the assistant theme leader, Efficiency in Farming Systems at SLU Global. Kostas is one of the visionaries of AGcelerate from its inception

Hon. Victoria Sekitoleko is the founding board chair of the Uganda Agribusiness Alliance. Prior, she served as Minister of Agriculture in the Government of Uganda and worked for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. She has been key at shaping strategy and policy engagements for AGcelerate

Steven is the C.E.O at the Agripreneurship Alliance, Switzerland. The Alliance propagates the work and ideals of AGcelerate in Switzerland and in Africa through their blended learning programs in Uganda, Kenya and Somaliland.

Catherine teaches business and management at the Makerere University Business School in Uganda. An agricultural specialist, she has before run a successful agribusiness consulting firm and brings on board a wealth of value chain and agribusiness modeling to AGcelerate.

Christina is an Associate Professor at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Her research focus is at the intersection of knowledge transfer, health and safety, and practice in Agrifood.

Mr. Engwau is the Managing Director at the Business Development Center - BDC Uganda. He brings to AGcelerate a wealth of expertise, tools and resources for supporting young entrepreneurs to develop and scale successful agribusinesses.

Philip Dradrio is the programs manager at the Open Impact Institute and works at the intersection of technology, innovation and business development. He has in the past organized successful hackathons and is a technology mentor for the AGcelerate agripreneurs.

Brian is as business development and innovation scaling specialist. His Design Thinking and Business Modeling modules have been key to our AGcelerate Labs. He has worked before for the Resilient Africa Network (RAN Lab) and runs a successful agribusiness in the coffee value chain.

Agnetha works for SLU Global and supports administration and communication both for SLU Global and AGcelerate in Sweden.

Dr. Basil Mugola is a Senior Lecturer and Head of Agribusiness and Rural Development department at the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment at Gulu University in Northern Uganda.

Perez is a Multi-stakeholder Specialists at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture based in Kampala, Uganda. He brings a wealth of experience in the workings of multi-stakeholder partnerships to AGcelerate


Otti is a Sustainable Design Specialist at the Open Impact Institute based in Kampala. He brings, to AGcelerate, his revolutionary ideas of restoration, rescue and recycling in the design processes for agribusiness startups.

Malin Planting is a communicator at SLU Global and occasionally supports communication and content management of the AGcelerate Initiative.

Georg is an associate professor at the Swedish University of Agricultural Science at Alnarp. His general research interest lie within cropping systems ecology and are directed to diversification of arable crop and increased used of legumes for sustainable food systems. For AGcelerate, he coordinates the teacher-student mobility exchange programs.
